Abstract
Work-life balance is considered as the balance between roles and responsibilities of work and family. The researcher presumes that work-life imbalance has increased after the concept of “breaking news” in the media industry. This study is therefore designed to investigate the influence of work-life balance (supportive family, working condition and time inflexibility) on employee performance with the mediating role of psychological wellbeing in the media industry of Pakistan. For that purpose, a questionnaire was adopted to collect the data from 213 employees of the selected media organizations of Pakistan. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed by using SPSS and SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). The results indicate that work-life balance is positively associated with employee performance whereas: psychological wellbeing partially mediates their relationship. The outcomes of this study will provide insights to the policymakers of the media industry in Pakistan. They are furthermore recommended to take the respective initiatives and build up the policies to strengthen the work-life balance practices and employee psychological wellbeing which will ultimately improve employee performance.
