Abstract

For maintaining a good livestock and steady source of income especially Nile-Ravi buffalo. It is important to have animal’s good reproductive health. In dairy animals, majority of factors like nutrients intake, physiological status, manage mental and climatic condition affects fertility of animals. In Pakistan main factors affecting on fertile reproduction, safe and normal pregnancy is nutrition status giving too minerals or less minerals. So to have good return from livestock balance feeding of the animals with balance quantity of macro minerals and trace minerals should be given. Proper feeding of minerals with respect to the various stages of life cycle must be done to improve the reproductive efficiency and to safe from abortion in third trimester due to lack of macro and trace minerals concentration in the blood of Nile-Ravi buffaloes. The present study carried to know macro minerals elements calcium, phosphorus and magnesium and micro minerals copper ,iron and zinc status in serum of Nile-Ravi buffaloes(Bublis bublis) .Blood sampling were collected from 20 October 2017 to 10 December 2017 in tehsil Karor and tehsil Layyah of district Layyah especially kacha area belt near eastern bank of Indus river. I collected 50 blood samples from 50 buffaloes, in which twenty five sample were together from normal pregnant buffalo during third trimester of gestation. And twenty five samples were taken from aborted buffalo of third trimester of pregnancy. I was taken 20 ml of blood from every buffaloes and placed in test through venipuncture jugular vein using a sterile needle of sixteen gauge in size. Test tubes with blood were placed one hour for the serum to be separate. The serum was next be separated with a pipette and then positioned in 5 ml serum cup, labeled and were stored at -20 Celsius till analyze. For mineral estimation, wet digestion of samples was process by technique of Richard (1968). Mean plasma quantities of following elements, Ca, P, Zn, Cu, and Fe, was considerably less in aborted buffalo of third trimester of pregnancy as compared to normal controlled pregnant buffaloes. While in aborted and normal buffaloes, the mean serum magnesium concentrations were in normal range, so problem of abortion in buffaloes not related with serum magnesium concentration in present study at District Layyah. Mean serum concentration of remaining minerals calcium, phosphorus, copper, iron and zinc were present critically and considerably low in aborted buffaloes as compared with normal pregnant controlled group buffaloes and this main cause of abortion in third trimester in Nile Ravi buffaloes in District Layyah Punjab Pakistan.
